    MIUI 13 22.2.9

Many thanks for useful response. I infer from (1) that disabling OAID (Open Anonymous Device Identifier) on the page found searching for "Manage virtual ID" from Settings won't actually cause any problems, and from (2) that it is probably only relevant in China. It is somewhat disturbing that...

    MIUI 13 22.2.9

This might be considered off-topic, but I think it probably affects all Chinese phones, and there seems to be very little about it on the Web. My phone is a Redmi Note 7 running the final xiaomi.eu weekly for it, long out of support, but I surmise that the issue is general, to do with an...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.21/22

What is the situation regarding devices no longer being updated? What I would guess is that weekly updates would stop; eventually there would be a stable update (maybe more than one?) based on the last weekly with bugs corrected but nothing new, and certainly no new Android or MIUI version. It...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.21/22

(Ignore this unless you read the original) I posted about a lavender ROM image downloaded with Updater with error message that actually tested as a valid ZIP file. However, it didn't install; I downloaded from Sourceforge and found the file contents to be quite different (same filenames...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.14/15

I use a different model (RN7, lavender), but the situation should be the same. Dirty flashing should be OK, and everything should stay the same, nothing lost. I am cautious enough to always make a backup, but only had a problem once, related to encryption. Every other time nothing was lost. A...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.14/15

Not an answer to your question, but a suggestion for anyone who want to investigate: I have a (non-Xiaomi) device that charges via USB. When used normally it just increases its level of charge, nothing to see here. But when I connect it via a (cheap) USB meter, I see the charge is intermittent...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.14/15

I can't say anything about the Mi 10 Ultra ROM. To know if a phone is rooted: on the Google Play Store there are lots of app to do that (some with intrusive ads). To install a stock ROM (general guidance, step-by-step instructions can be found): download the appropriate ROM for your phone and...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.14/15

I have had a different problem, but also "it does connect but says no internet". I get this when connecting to some public networks (in particular UK NHS WiFi). In my case I can always get it to work, but it requires half an hour of fiddling and rebooting. One thing that seems to help is...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.14/15

Just to clarify, Xiaomi make several ROMs for their phone; one of them is their EEA ROM (filename with "EEA" and "EU", like miui_LAVENDEREEAGlobal_V12.0.3.0.QFGEUXM_2064030854_10.0.zip). xiaomi.eu is a different ROM that also uses the MIUI interface, based on the Xiaomi China ROM. I expect you...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.7/8

I suppose sooner or later we'll have a rom which is "dead".

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.7/8

Not necessarily; in the past the download finished, quite a while after showing 100%. But the last 2 update downloads eventually failed, with an error message. I think that the whole file did actually download completely despite the message, but instead I adopted the habit of downloading on a PC...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.7/8

That happened to me the last 2 times I used the Updater app. I think (but am not sure) that you'll find the file downloaded correctly anyway. But what I now do is download from sourceforge on a PC and copy to the phone's home directory (you could download onto the phone directly), then boot into...

    MIUI 12.6 21.4.7/8

Not an answer to your question as such, but a reminder: weekly updates for lavender end on 24 April. Your alternatives are to go weekly anyway, go to xiomi.eu stable (I don't know what will happen with that), stick with what you've got, or try a different ROM, such as LineageOS, which will...

    MIUI 12.5 21.3.17/18

I added a comment to my original post to say that a NANDroid backup like you describe can be read by Titanium, and individual apps and/or their data can be extracted. (If you use Orangefox instead of TWRP, you have to put the NANDroid backup in the location that TWRP uses, maybe /TWRP/Backups, I...

    MIUI 12.5 21.3.17/18

With Bluetooth, the sound is better if AptX or a later codec (HD, LL, Adaptive) is used; both phone and headphones must support it. All recent phones with Snapdragon processors have hardware capable of AptX, but the less expensive ones, like Xiaomi Redmi, don't have software support. I have...

    MIUI 12.5 21.3.17/18

[Added later: proper backup with an app requires rooting; otherwise the phone's and Google's backup are probably the best that can be done to back up apps and their data. A NANDroid backup with TWRP/Orangefox backs everything up. Titanium can restore individual apps and data from a NANDroid...

    MIUI 12.5 21.3.17/18

[This is wrong, I misremembered, I lost root rather than a bootloop.] Exactly that happened to me. I posted in detail, I think in the forum for last week's ROM. Essentially, you extract the boot.img from the ROM you're using and run Magisk to patch it, then install it. Very easy. (I was using...

    MIUI 12.5 21.3.17/18

Thanks for response. I knew that and it's not a problem, just pointing it out. > The download sometimes failing because of a bad mirror... Only thing you can do is to try later/again or manually download the ROM. :) Yes, that's a fairly normal thing, but it's noteworthy that it has always...

    MIUI 12.5 21.3.17/18

I don't know if this is due to my system rather than the xiaomi.eu ecosystem, but the last 3 times I downloaded an update (about every 2 weeks, I don't install all) the download procedure has gone as usual, then "100%" is displayed, but downloading continues at about the sane rate (~1.6MB/sec...

With Redmi Note 7, lavender I always download the new ROM's ZIP, boot into recovery (OrangeFox rather than TWRP), and install the new ROM followed by Magisk in one operation. I can't guarantee this will work with other phones and recoveries, but I think it should. HTH
