Is it as simple as flashing the rom in the recovery? And do I need to wipe everything before doing that?

Follow up. Can I go back to MIUI 13 if I found to 14 to be buggy? What would the process be like of doing that?

Found the solution! You can hide the divider by enabling hide network splitter. You have to actually restart the phone so that it takes effect. A simple SystemUI restart will not work.
