Tutorial How to Upgrade MIUI on an Encrypted Phone

This guide is pretty old by now. Perhaps they have changed the update script. Thanks for the heads up! The script used to just unzip itself over the file system. Maybe now it does a legit format command. Been a while since I've looked at it as I now just use TWRP. Sent from my Nexus4 using...

Tutorial How to Upgrade MIUI on an Encrypted Phone

Could you be a little more clear in the steps you took to help the next person who reads this thread? I'm glad it worked. Did you just use /tmp instead of system like my suggestion easier or something else? Sent from my Nexus4 using Tapatalk 2

Tutorial How to Upgrade MIUI on an Encrypted Phone

If you absolutely 100% must have an update you could always backup, decrypt, update, and re-encrypt. Sent from my Nexus4 using Tapatalk 2

Tutorial How to Upgrade MIUI on an Encrypted Phone

It's highly device dependent since the phones are from different manufacturers and have different memory sizes and layouts. Another option to explore is using /tmp instead of /system in case your device handles the temp directory in a different fashion. Sent from my Nexus4 using Tapatalk 2

Tutorial How to Upgrade MIUI on an Encrypted Phone

The tutorial is still relevant in cases where you have CWM and an encrypted /data/ partition. If you don't have enough space on /system/ you're only viable option is to use TWRP. TWRP can read encrypted partitions if you provide the password. Then you can just upgrade like normal. When I made...

    3.6.14

PSA for all who flash Nexus 4 ROM: After a clean flash, the only issue I have run into on 3.6.15 (which I grabbed from ibotpeaches repo on GooManager) is that the Music and Gallery apps cannot see local storage. I can see all my files if I go to File Explorer -> Phone, but I cannot see files in...

    MIUI v5 Preview

A bit off topic, but how do you like the mi2 compared to the N4? Does it get hspa42? Would you recommend that move for others as well?

I don't have any need for a phone, but I wouldn't mind some MIUI gear as long as you shipped to the US!

    MIUI v5 Preview

I really hope the Nexus 4 gets the MIUI camera. My last GNex didn't get it. I suppose I have the photosphere to lose now though.

    Miui for Nexus 4

Not necessarily. I made the same purchase decision, because I knew MIUI would have official support for this phone. It's massively popular, first class AOSP support, and great international support (like global frequency radios). I even ditched my CDMA provider because I knew GSM phones had...

    Miui for Nexus 4

Everybody please vite for the device on the MIUI forum thread he posted. This phone must have official support. That would be amazing.

Are MIUI aware of this root exploit!

Just taking a quick glance at it and it seems like this would affect any kernel which pulled from the Samsung kernel source. MIUI is now based off of stock ROMs and not CM. This would imply that they are using the stock kernel which would certainly pull from Samsung sources. Unless MIUI used a...

    Miui v5?...

I don't know, but I hope the file manager gains the ability to look at root, change permissions on files, and has a built in text editor. Those 3 things are about the only stuff I'm missing where I "need" third party apps for basic functionality (at least to someone who flashes roms often and...
