adb root access

Why we can't get root access from adb?
every time i do it it say:

C:\>adb root
adbd cannot run as root in production builds

and when try this:

C:\>adb remount
remount failed: Operation not permitted

is it a bug or it's just disabled?
and hot to get full root access from adb?

I think is a bug with miuiandroid.com builds. I am running miui.us and it works fine.
