Annoying message app problem. Screenshots included. [HTC Desire]

I am using the v1.8.5 ROM

There is this annoying problem in the message application.
As soon as the size of my message gets around 5 or 6 messages, I can no longer scroll up to see what the previous message was.

Please check the screenshots.

Any solution?

I'd wipe system and reflash. Also, try using the mms auto split.
