Appreciation and problems with 1. Open PDF from Files 2. SD Maid unable to run app cleaner

1. I want to express my great appreciation to the team, the MIX4 EU ROM has resolved my many problems when using CHINA ROM including google pay can not be used in transport, need for full screen indicator to improve accuracy when using gesture from bottom, lack of personalization in the system launcher. I previously had decided not to buy Xiaomi phone in future again after this 1st Xiaomi phone in recent years, but now, I might buy again as long as there is EU ROM support.

2. sorry that I am too new to this kind of high level BBS. There were some questions initially, now they have been resolved after searching. but I have 2 problems still need help.

A. can not open pdf from Files.
Some times I can use the function of open from another apps within Files to open PDFs, however there usually will be lags, and some times it will not be successful.

I still can use Adobe reader to open PDFs from itself without accessing Files.
And there was no issues open pictures, audios from Files.

This problem seems is specific to opening PDFs from Files.

B. can not use SD Maid App-cleaner function.

Before ROM was changed to EU ROM, upon using the App-cleaner function, the SD maid showed that it would go to each app, and clean them one by one, probably it stays in each app for 1s.

Now it will stay in each app for a few seconds, and at the end, nothing will be cleaned.

Files > find your PDF.
Open In Another App > Remember My Choice > App You Want


B. It is worth long pressing on the app and seeing what permissions it has. With MIUI you have to explicitly give apps permissions. Maybe it doesn't have ability to read / write files?

A. Yes, I did it in that way, however it did not work.
B. I have tried giving every possible permissions to SD maid alr, however bad outcome still.

Any way, I flashed to ROM from 25/nov/21, which brought more additional issues, then I flashed to stable version, now all those problems are gone.
Hope everything will be fine in next few days, I am lowering my expectations T_T.

May I ask opinion regarding the new unofficial TWRP for MIX4, is it safe and good?
So far I only tried using fast boot to flash new ROMs, however for the most updated stable version ROM for MIX4, only TWRP version is available .

Personally I had a small issue with the twrp but it was my fault because I didn't follow the instructions exactly. It was easy to fix by flashing fastboot rom and starting from the beginning.
As long as you follow them point by point and you don't make assumptions based on your previous experience with twrp you should be fine.
The main point is that you don't flash twrp. Instead you "live boot" it with a fastboot command. Once you flash the ROM zip you will also have a permanent twrp.

Ha, many thanks for the advice, although it is still quite difficult for me to understand, I am just too new here, will read and study
