Hi All,

I can posting this on behalf of a friend, who got a Hongmi just before xmas.
The reported specs says 8MB, but I can only set 1, 2 and 4MB using the standard camera app..

MIUI-JHACNAH1.0 and JB 4.2.1.

Thanks.

Switch to latest stable v5.0 MIUI for Hongmi and you can choose from 0.8 to 8 M.

Thanks MikelFuchs. I pass that in to him. However is there a reason why his new phone be so out of date from MIUI-JHACNAH1.0 to JHBCNAL5.0?

Mine was delivered 3 weeks ago also with 1.0, currently there is one new stable version for Hongmi per month.

Lololo what solution is this???
No matter the firmware version, the camera being 8MP should have 8mp option, period.
Unless is a firmware bug, but a brand new phone, in the box, delivered with buged firmware doesn't have excuses nor by any means that even makes sense.
Have you test the phone to know if it real or a fake?

OK, you could be right, I did not think of a fake phone with a worse camera resolution. Most prominent for a fake Hongmi should be a worse screen resolution.
Nevertheless the first versions of Hongmi ROMs definitely had some bugs

My phone came with v1.0 and zero bugs. After update to 5.0 no root, lost paid apps etc.
Already regret updating the dam phone

Hi I have V5.0 and on normal mode I dont have 8MB too, but by switching to professional mode I got 8MB.
To have professional mode, select settings/Advanced Functions and switch to professional mode by selecting "Simple Mode" toggle.

You can after select 8MB.

After your root & lost paid apps issues are solved: If you check the change log of v5.0 (
http://xiaomi.eu/community/index.php?posts/192545) there are definitely several issues fixed and lots of new features included.
Surely there are still some bugs, thus let us look forward to v6.0 :p

I haven't found any bugs so far apart from the paid apps issue, which is solved thanks to your help.
But I feel this v5.0 shower than v1.0. Can't get more than 15800 in AnTuTu while with v1.0 was always more than 16300, give or take.

Yes, I noticed that standard the camera comes in Simple Mode, there only allowing 4:3 and 16:9 photos. We have to disable Simple Mode in the advanced option in camera settings.

How did you manage to root?

I assume you use MobileUncle tools to update recovery, which is the new recovery which you want to apply?

And are you sure your HongMi is no fake? What is e.g. the screen resolution?
