Battery Drain because of Flip Cover

I have a Xiaomi Flip Cover for the MI3 and realized it is not anti-static. Screen will not switch off, if screen is covered by Flip Cover.

The Problem is, that if the phone switches on the screen because of a notification the screens stays on, and the battery will drain.

Does anyone has similar problems and found solutions?

I got my flip cover from here and I don't have this issue.
