Hey Guys,

Hope someone can help me out cause I'm afraid I screwed up some things. (I'm not that technical and into this stuff so it may sound a bit stupid:p)

I wanted to change from miui 5 to 6 on my Mi2s so I downloaded the latest .zip and installed it. Everything seems to work except that I can't us Wifi. It is not trouble with connecting to a network, it just can't activate Wifi (so it isn't even looking for networks etc.) So when you have this switch to turn Wifi on and off the whole thing is unavailable. Anyone heard of this before?

Then I tried to reboot to the other system (to go back to the old Miui5 rom) but that didn't work. The phone won't start. Also I can't install older roms (gives an error in the updater app when opening a .zip)

Hope my story made any sense and that someone can tell me what to do next

Thnx

Hi,

This is because you don't read the ROM topic carefully !!! ;)
So, if you want to install official xiaomi.eu MIUIv6 releases, you have to flash your Mi2S via MiFlash first :

For first installation of Mi2S v6 SPECIAL EDITION
- Install v6 via MiFlash (flash_all) - link : http://htcfanboys.com/download/acid/?action=list&folder=49098

- Then install our multilang via Updater app like usually

MiFlash and the tutorial are available here : http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/guide-flashing-rom-using-miflash-mi2-3.19287/

Thnx

I downloaded the stuff from the tutorial. Only the link to the fastboot didn't work so i used another one .

can't post the link here....but is says Mi two 4.11.21 fastboot (4.1) so thinks that's it.

I extracted the files to my c disk but miflash can't find any files. :S

Hi,

No you didn't understand correctly what I said. You have to install this package using the tutorial : http://htcfanboys.com/download/acid/?action=list&folder=49098

Make sure you have installed all the drivers also :

1- Install Mi2s Fastboot drivers included in this software (yes i know, it is in chinese, but just have click on next next next, and you don't need the program itself, just the drivvers it installs) : http://miuiandroid.com/windows/

2- Install adb and fastboot drivers using this tool : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588979

Then connect your phone into fastboot mode (phone off: press volume down + power key until you see fastboot image)
After that follow the MiFlash tutorial, and you should have a brand new phone with working Wifi.

Hi,

@jauling : aaah, what a good idea ! But in fact he would also need fastboot to install a custom recovery (the only way to install a custom recovery when you are on official V6 releases) which will allow him to install sMiui. But I agree with you : if I were at his place, I would install sMiui instead of official releases ! ;)

hmm, are you sure you need to fastboot to install custom recovery, if already using official v6? I guess I just dont know. I went from official MIUI v5 to installing CWM Recovery to installing fresh sMIUI last week, so I guess I never got a chance to even try the official v6.

FWIW, on my mipad I have never had to use fastboot (does it even exist?). I've accidentally overwritten CWM Recovery with MiRecovery, and I just use MiRecovery to install update.zip to get back to CWM Recovery. Different devices can often mean different procedures of course...

Hi,

@jauling : The procedure you for your Mipad was EXACTLY the same with Mi2S running v5. Security has been increased with v6 and this is no more possible. As far as I know, the only way to install a custome recovery in our Mi2S when we are on official v6 is through fastboot.

Thnx guys!

I have it running again :) May be I'll check out the sMiui or other roms later but for now I'm just glad I got my phone working (I'm way to dumb for all this tech stuff :p)

Cheers!

Hi,

Very happy that you fixed your wifi issue. But I'm a bit curious and maybe this will help other people, how did you fix it? Through fastboot? Thanks.

Yea I followed the steps you said. (except I skipped step 2..with the adb and fastboot drivers?)
Then I used fastboot and Miflash to instal the package
