Can't get Magisk to work on Xiaomi 14 (houji) HyperOS 2.0.207.0

Hey guys,

I'm kinda stuck with rooting my Xiaomi 14 (houji) on HyperOS 2.0.207.0 (xiaomi.eu).
I feel like maybe I’m missing something simple, but tried a lot already:

  • Bootloader unlocked
  • Extracted boot.img from my exact ROM version
  • Patched boot.img with Magisk (tried both v27.0 and 29.0)
  • Flashed patched boot via fastboot (boot and boot_ab)
  • System boots normally but Magisk says "not installed", no version, no Zygisk, and no root
  • Tried reinstalling Magisk apk, didn’t help
  • Tried disabling AVB (vbmeta flash with disable-verity), but ended up in fastboot loop
  • Finally reflashed full ROM, phone works fine now but Magisk still won’t activate

Is there anything I’m doing wrong? Or some trick needed for houji HyperOS 2.0.207.0?
Would really appreciate any help

Edited* I want to install Magisk without installing TWRP.

Because if the device has init_boot.img, you need to patch that instead of boot.img.
I try to flash the patched init_boot.img with magisk but I get stuck into fastboot mode...

I also have the same issue when I successfully try to use TWRP to root my phone. I get the message
Magisk says "not installed", no version, no Zygisk, and no root

I'm under Xiaomi 13 ultra

Well... Thank you , I did patch the inti_boot.img but I'm getting stuck in fastboot, doesn't someone have a solution?

@Sony Blin4ik

Did you find a solution?

Regards
Patch init_boot.img with magisk and flash through fastboot
fastboot flash init_boot patches_boot.img
Then open magisk and tap install and choose direct install

extract the rom zip again, dirty flash the rom again and then only patch init_boot.img and flash it.

or you can also use the latest TWRP with decryption working and just use the magisk apk to flash magisk on
