I have a similar problem as described in this thread:
xiaomi.eu/community/threads/crash-when-trying-to-access-developer-options.36738
Device: Redmi 4A
ROM: xiaomi.eu_multi_HM4A_V8.5.2.0.MCCCNED_v8-6.0
My language is German.
Switching to English does resolve the problem. So it seems also to be a translation issue.
Is there already a fix?

Hm. Problem seems to be nearly gone now. To be honest, I have no explanation why.
I am able to call "developer options" ("Entwickleroptionen") with language set to German.

One strange thing is left:
If I disable "developer options" and try to enter into the "developer options" menu again,
the menu is skiped and the top level settings menu is displayed instead.
I have to temporary change the language to English to reactivate the "developer options" menu again.

After some testing, I can reproduce and explain the behaviour:
If I switch off "developer options", values are reset to default.
"Log buffer sizes" has a default value off 256 K.
With language set to English I change this value to 1 M.
Then I am able to call "developer options" with language set to German.
With language set to German, I can select the following Logbuffer sizes: Aus/64K/256K/1M/4M/16M.
With language set to English, I can select the following Logbuffer sizes: 64K/256K/1M/4M/16M.
This is not compatible. Off (Aus) is missing here.
If I set the size to 1 M in English, in the German "developer options" menu also 1 M is displayd.
But If I select the "Log buffer sizes" Option, the 256 K entry is marked.
Activating the 1 M entry, leads to 4 M in the "developer options" menu.
Activating the 16 M entry, leads to a fallback to the "Additional settings" menu.

Conclusion: the "off" option has been removed, but not in then German translation.
So this bug has to be fixed.

Report it to German translation repository..
