There is a reason we put Dark/Night mode in developer settings.
It's not ready for everyday usage. Xiaomi is working on it, all you can do is wait.

Until fully functional dark mode is available try theme "Stock [Black Mode]".

Theme is available directly from Xiaomi via Settings ->Theme ->Search.
Works perfectly and hasn't this issue.
