I bought a xiaomi 14 ultra on eBay and it a-pears to be a Chinese model but has the global rom installed.
I don’t seem to be getting any updates normally on the phone and would like to be able to use services like google wallet/pay as I cannot add my cards due to the device not being secure.
The box that my Phone came in has a ‘CCC’ trademark symbol on it, so I’m pretty sure it’s running the Chinese hardware. I also seem to be stuck on Android 14 UKQ1.231003.002. The phone is stuck on hyper os 1.0.2.0UNAMIXM
I noticed that I need to have to Android 15 and a China Rom Base.
I’d like to install the EU Rom on the phone but have no idea if it’s safe or possible?
Sorry if this is a stupid question but I’m worried about bricking my phone by doing the wrong thing, and have no idea how all this works, so any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
P.S. I’ll be happy to try and provide more details if needed.

I'll keep it short and sweet. There's nothing you can do; you're stuck without an update forever. Unless you pay to install oryginal the Chinese firmware (circa 50 USD). And you'll be able to upgrade to newer china rom versions. There's no other option. Fake global with no upgrade or Chinese ROMs.

and if you unknowingly bought this defective product - then maybe the eBay buyer protection program will help you get your money back

Thank you for your reply. It's not necessarily what I wanted to hear, but it will save me a bunch of wasted time trying to fix my phone.

Is there such a thing as a complete factory reset on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra so I can remove the dodgy Global Rom that was installed and then set up the EU rom instead?

No, and No!. You cant. Factory reset don't help. Only options -> (1) and (2) posted before

POSTED BEFORE ON OTHER PLACE

If you have non-global versions of Xiaomi phones, you can do two things:
1) use the Chinese version of the ROM and get OTA as usual.
2) flash it with the bootloader locked to the global ROM (JUST DON'T DO IT YOURSELF AT HOME) – but then you won't get any OTA, and GPAY may or may not work.

Theoretically, if you have an MTK phone, you can flash it yourself at home without any specialized tools (but with knowledge and a special program)
. If you have SNAP, you can only do it through NCUNLOCK (or similar services), for $50-80 per flash or upgrade to the new global version.

Aha, it is possible (2) to do it as long as there is an original Xiaomi global rom, i.e. for example for Xiaomi 15 pro it is not possible because there is no original global rom

Some Chinese models sometimes receive OTA updates after flashing a Global ROM without unlocking the bootloader. I don't know what determines this.
But generally, it's safe to assume they won't receive OTA updates.

Thanks again for your advice.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform, so I guess the MTK option is out the window.

For option 2) there does seem to be an original global ROM file available for the 14 Ultra - see it here: https://new.c.mi.com/global/miuidownload/detail/device/1900594

Did you mean that my specific phone has to have an original Xiaomi Global ROM running on it right now, or just that there is one available online (see above)?

Is there any way for me to check whether I am running an original Global ROM or not?
