Hi!

I have a Mi 9T Pro with latest Weekly (20.10.22) and in some apps the fingerprint is accusing a scan error before I even touch it. (Attached some SS.)

This started with Global 12.0.2.0 and still persists in MIUI EU.

Already tried to remove and add the fingerprint again but no change.

Tried a completely device reset. Reflashed latest Global ROM on Mi Flash and then MIUI EU, the bug persisted on both ROM's.

Another user already appears to be reported the same issue but with other device:

Yes, the issue is still present and possibly device independent, happens on RN8, obviously MI5 and MI9T PRO.

Mi 9T with Android 10 AOSP ROM (not MIUI) = Same fingerprint read issue... :(

EDIT: It's working fine for one of my banking app but not for PayPal app. In my case it looks like an "app-relative" issue. ;)

Well for the app-relative part I have tried it with Revolut and there is an issue for it, maybe the others will list their apps and some idea as to why this is happening might reveal itself.

I have the same problem in my Mi 9 Lite!

After the last update, simply the sensor fails to read the biometrics several times, even when re-registering the finger, the reader seems to fail constantly, it is even failing during the mere unlocking of the screen.

:(

I thought that in AOSP there wouldn't be such problem, curious

On some apps where they appears to "ask" for the fingerprint in a different way this issue doesn't seems to happen.

Attached some SS.

* The second SS is from the app "Mercado Pago"

This appears to be a different issue.

The one I'm reporting is about an scan error before I even touch the scanner when an app "asks" for a fingerprint authentication. (Only in the first time, when I open the app)

On the lockscreen and on fingerprint register the sensor works perfectly

Exact same issue on MI 10T Lite miui 12.0.2. when you open an app and it asks for fingerprint authentication it registers an incorrect finger before you touch the sensor. Some apps let you try again other go straight to alternative login so you cant use fingerprint. Lloyds and Halifax banking apps in particular go straight to alternative login. Has anyone found a workaround or seen anything about a fix?

No workarounds as far as I know.
