I am thinking of flashing the EU rom ontop of my Global Version Mi Mix 3 but on this forum everyone seems to be flashing China Rom first, do I need to do this or can I flash straight from Global to EU?

In the moment in which u r in TWRP choose wipe n then format data, is the same... doesn't matter if is China or global

It also comes with its own issues. I was never able to get notifications working reliably on this rom.
Notifications on the EU Roms surely can't be as bad as then global ROM. The notifications keep resetting themselves to not displaying on lock screen

Yes, I know, doesn't make any difference.
The problems I saw on this rom were:
Native messaging app doesn't support group messaging.
Google Messages runs unreliably, messages not arriving, notifications not shown, outbound messages delayed, etc.
Lockscreen notifications not persistent.
Lockscreen notifications can't be expanded (not 100% sure about this one, may be related to lock screen security).
Getting notifications to be displayed in the first place required multiple permission screens, making debugging extremely difficult.
Now I've switched to the Pixel Experience rom, it's like night & day as far as notifications go. They worked right out of the box, and have been working fine ever since.
I've only been running it for a day, but so far no downsides, everything I've tested works (including bluetooth) other than Ok Google voice detection (Xiaomi driver issue, I believe). For the way it looks, just look at any Pixel! It's vanilla Google Android. It felt like a big relief to me after a month of battling with MIUI. There's no automatic action attached to the slider, so you have to open the camera manually, but most people seem to prefer it that way. I'm running the non-GSI version (which I think means it uses the Xiaomi drivers rather than generic).
Might give it a go or the EU ROM, finding so many issues with the global version. Only thing I don't like about the pixel is the gestures, would prefer no pill for it.
Where did you get the pixel experience ROM as the one I see elsewhere has issues... Might just stick with EU rom

I never found it either. I had all kinds of problems just putting the phone in my pocket, since even with fingerprint off, just the merest touch on the sensor was enough to turn the screen on. The rom I'm on now, the fingerprint sensor is disabled once you removed fingerprint unlock.
On pixel ROM does the fingerprints work ok and camera etc? Also does it work ok with Android auto
Fingerprint works perfectly (actually, it's better than MIUI, see previous post), camera works fine although I haven't tested it extensively, and I don't own a car with Android Auto so haven't tried that, obviously. The biggest advantages I've found so far are the notifications, lockscreen notifications, notification functionality, the pocket problem, smart unlocking, and the ability to save/restore /data in TWRP.
There is no pocket mode nor smart cover mode on the Mi Mix1, never has been.
I read somewhere that, because they used an ultrasonic proximity sensor instead of infrared, it is not possible to do those.
Same for the Mix2s I believe.
Someone know for sure?
I never found a pocket mode setting. However, the Pixel Experience rom proves it's not necessary. With no fingerprint registered, the sensor doesn't turn the screen on.
