Good reasons to root

it has been a few years since I last had a use for a rooted phone. Nowadays I really don't see any good reason to.

Am I missing something?

Well, since I'm a developer and testing stuff all the time before pushing them to our build server, I definitely find root indispensable, makes testing and debugging so much easier and faster.
But unless you're a developer yourself, I don't see much of a reason to root, especially on a MIUI ROM, where customization is already quite extensive.

Yeah, MIUI EU is pretty customizable already, I guess the effort to root and it's downsides are just not worth if not for a really specific usage.
