New Google play services not enabling after exiting ultra power save mode

Using a mi 8 lite with latest 12.5.1 Rom, when I exit ultra power save mode, I get notifications that Google play services is off and it needs to be started. When I click on it, I get sent to the settings page where I can manage Google play services but there's no "enable" option so I gotta restart my phone to enable it.

Same problem on poco F3 with the stable 12.5.6. I tried to set the Google play service app to "autostart", but it doesn't fix. Although Google apps appear to be working fine.
