I'm an Ingress player (it's basically the father of Pokemon Go) .
This app uses the GPS to locate you. In order to prevent losing time when switching off/on the screen, it keeps the GPS running in the background for several seconds when the screen is off (or when you use another app).
However, if you leave the app for longer (a couple of minutes) it stops the GPS (to save battery) and starts it again once you go back to the app.
The problem I have is that, when it switches off the GPS (to save battery), it doesn't seem to be able to start it again. The app is started but the GPS icon (the one of MIUI) is not displayed on the top of the screen (as if the app didn't request it). You have to kill the app and restart the app to have the GPS on again.
Leaving the app and coming back to it a couple of seconds later doesn't have this issue (probably because the GPS is never stopped during this period).
Finally I don't think that's a problem with the app since there are thousands of players worldwide and this is an extremely annoying problem when you play. I didn't hear complains from other players.
I have a Mi 5 Pro running xiaomi.eu_multi_MI5_V7.5.6.0.MAACNDE_v7-6.0 (the stable version). I never add another ROM or version on this phone so I cannot tell if the app is working on other/previous versions.
