A clean installation is one where you apply wipes (data, dalvik cache, cache ..). at that time it is called clean because that leaves exactly a clean phone with nothing. and the dirty installation is simply to put the ROM without having cleaned the phone which is the previous thing you did.

2) Wipe -> Factory Reset
3) Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Dalvik/System/Data/Internal Storage/Cache
4) Install ROM
