Hi guys, after updating to Gummy ROM & using V6 supercharger script, my USB mass storage mode disappeared. Whenever i connect my phone to PC, it says USB debugging connected, but it doesn't open up file manager or it doesn't show up in my Laptop....

Hence i can't copy or view any file from & to my Phone...

What is this state called ? how do i solve it & get back the USB mass storage mode back ? In samsung, if USB mode is gone, atleast MTP function will be there . But for us which way ?

I feel like depressed now.... any help guys ?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you changed the driver in windows? When installing adb universal driver, my usb stop working.. If yes, simply delete them for mi2s and install mi drivers

Infact i didn't delete any drivers. All i did was to install V6 supercharger script for best battery life & lag free performance on my Mi2S running Mokee's nightly. I had to patch my services.jar file for this script to work 100%. Then in the guide it was quoted as we should connect the phone using USB to PC in charging mode not in mass storage mode.
I unchecked mass storage option which appears soon after we connect USB to PC.
then from that time all i can see is usb debugging mode only... no second option of mass storage device which when i click on it would open my SD card in explorer...

Now i can see that USB is connected in devices, but it doesn't allow me to browse my internal storage from PC. Infact it has disappeared from my computer. Not showing at all as storage device.... no matter what driver i use. I even tried enabling USB storage by installing some apps... none work.

ADB driver is installed perfectly... i can see it in ADB command also. but mass storage option is lost.

Any Idea what this strange situation is all about ?

This is not possible since Mi2(S) doesn't have any real sdcard. If you want to get it mounted on your computer, you will have to unmount it on your phone which is impossible since everything (system, bootloader...) is on the same storage device.

MTP is s**t. I recommend to use some FTP solution to transfer files between your PC and your aries.

Mi2 has no mass storage, MTP and PTP only

Good info. But i was talking about something different situation guys...

Isn't it possible that you accidently turn on something in Settings - Developer options? If yes, disable development completely, if this helps, you can enable it and find the "culprit" in there.

If this is not the solution I would suggest looking deeper into that script of yours you installed.

And of course you can do back up and try reinstall.

We've been trying to tell you that having what you called a "mass storage" mode is not possible on aries.

If you're referring to something that you connect your phone to your PC, you can see a device and browse the files on it and make file transfer, it would be MTP. If you somehow have it disabled, you can re-enable it in Settings - Storage - (Menu key or menu button on top right) USB computer connection and you will see a selection for MTP or PTP.

And like I said, MTP is s**t. The cache doesn't update on time for almost every time I try to use it. If you do really want to get a stable file transfer solution, FTP is the way to go. If you prefer to use a USB cable but not a USB tethering, you can use adb pull / push anyway.

If you have the option enabled and you still don't see your MTP device when you connect your phone, check Device Manager (I'm assuming you're using Windows else you won't like this ****** MTP anyway...) and see if you have your phone listed and have proper driver installed.

Oops, that is too technical for me. I didn't understand all the info what you said.
But now i don't have my device in that state. It still shows mass storage whenever i connect to PC ( windows 7 64bit)
I don't see MTP. All i see is mass storage and PTP. If you are calling that mass storage thing is originally an MTP, then i am sorry, i was misunderstood. i will accept my ignorance.

But i can tell you what i see in my phone. I am no expert. There is no need for me to lie & imagine things to tell you. If you still don't believe in me i can take a screen shot & send you how it look when i connect my device to PC....

thanks in advance

Let it be. The point was to re-enable transfer files to your phone and you managed. Therefore it is pointless to argue about the transfer mod's name.

I'd like to make a screenshot for you to show what a MTP device is like but since I'm using Chinese version of Windows 7 it will be pointless since you won't get what it says after all.

And yes, it would be nice if you provide some screenshot, both on your phone and your PC. A screenshot to Device Manager would be nice to, you can get it by run (Win+R) "mmc devmgmt.msc" (without the outer quote marks) and don't forget to expand all trees (at least the android & phone related ones, you will see them when you see them)

So we can see what can be done to make this whatever you call it file transfer thing to work again :)

Nothing to apologize here :) nobody born with full knowledge about anything. I really like people have their own point instead just take everything told - it's all about learning~
Glad you get it work, now enjoy your new ROM! :D
