How To Install Xiaomi.eu Rom On Used Phone?

I've bought my Mi Mix used and have been using AOSP based ROMs ever since the start (it came pre-unlocked).

Now I've wanted to give the Xiaomi.eu ROM a try but during the initial setup it asks for the phones "linked" Mi account password, which I can only assume belong to the original owner of this phone.

Given I no longer have the contact details of the seller I can't just ask for his account data, and even if I could I think he would be unlikely to share said information.

Thus I'm asking: What's the proper way to go about this? Obviously I'm somewhat scared about relocking and potentially locking myself out of my own phone, so I thought I'd ask the experts around here.

• Install TWRP (Mr Rains or Raupe)
• Clean/Wipe DATA space (forget ur data, u will start from the beginning)
• Install clean Xiaomi.eu

Cheers

Then u can use fastboot roms version. U can find it in official website/forum.
With this method u will made a clean factory reset and install an original rom !

Will I be able to unlock the phone afterwards though?

I don't want to end up on a locked bootloader in the process.

If u have a mi Account, u will be able to unlock ur phone if bootloader will be relocked !

The real question here is... will I be able to do this on a used phone that has previously been unlocked by another user? This is my whole issue here...

It would suck if I went and relocked this thing (just to get rid of the remnant unlock information that seems to still be stored on the phone, somewhere) and then find myself unable to re-unlock it because its been done before on another account.

@ start, u configure a Mi Account then unloxk process is attached to this... i don't remeber read somewhere about unlocked feature where stored in system... And fastboot ROM clean eveything...

The Mi Unlock process works in a way that it stores the Mi account ID in a offset inside the config partition.
This partition doesn't get reset by fastboot flashes afaik as its not part of the fastboot package.

It's been too long since I last messed with bootloader reverse engineering... but, its the same partition that holds the accounts challenge key afaik.

That's why I'm unsure right now.

Are u the coldbird who make unfied storage for Oppo Find7a ?

Read this... u will have ur answer :

It's been a long time, but yes.

As for the link you provided, I know the generic way of unlocking Mi devices, so the information there isn't really news to me.

I once again sum up my issue:
1. I flash the Xiaomi.eu ROM, clean of course.
2. The initial Mi-Setup pops up on boot, as its a fresh install.
3. The ROM seems to see that the phone has been previously linked to a Mi account, and it shows me a screen with a Mi account number, telling me to log into said account.
4. At this stage I can't do anything else, as I don't have the given account's password, and the phone won't let me navigate away from said screen.

If I do what you tell me to do, and I end up in a locked bootloader with the same issue, I will be forever unable to unlock it after, as said screen would prevent me from ever linking my own Mi account to the phone.

This is why i say the security are erased with Fastboot ROM. Then when u will start, u will see only standard request about link a Mi account then your.

Then link provided is not really important about explanantion but clearly confirm > Fawtboot ROM erase "everything". The quote i made under link.

Cheers

The previous owner does not have to give you his account details, like with a Google account, all he has to do is remove the phone from his account.

But he has to do it himself.

There are lots of threads with this kind of problem on the MIUI forum.
Some few seem to have been able to get help from official Xiaomi service, after providing proof of purchase.

Otherwise you are up the proverbial Sh*t Creek without a paddle, it would seem.

All of course well thought out to make things difficult for thieves, bandits, and sneaky dishonest relatives.

I had no problems doing this, as long as you have a mi account. Fastboot rom and check re-lock bootloader. Then log in with you're account details. Of course you then have to apply for bootloader unlock linked to you're account.
