Hello,

I understand that this topic has been discussed many times, but I've encountered numerous broken links and confusing information. Despite the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro being quite an old model, I need to root this device.

The details of my device are as follows:

  • Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro
  • MIUI Version: MIUI Global 12.1.1 Stable
  • Android Version: 11 RKQ1.200826.002
(Please let me know if you need any additional information.)

I'm seeking advice on which TWRP or OrangeFox version to use for recovery. I've tried many, but none have allowed me to decrypt data. When OrangeFox or TWRP launch in recovery mode, they don't prompt for a password. I've even attempted removing the password and performing various wipes, but to no avail. As a security researcher, I cannot afford to give up on rooting this device. I need to root it because I will use it to complete my homework.

My sole objective is to gain root access and execute sudo commands, nothing more.

Thanks in advance, that will save my life!

I've the same issue with Xiaomi Mi 9 SE which runs the same specs of your phone. I manage to decrypt the data thanks to this post, i.e. using the DFE zip file. To move the DFE file into your phone transfer the file over MTP after formatting the data. Let me know if you are successful.

However, I didn't manage to root the phone afterwards with Magisk. It seems rooting the 12th MIUI to be tough.
