How To Update Stable Rom?

I am trying to update the stable ROM MIUI 7.1.3.0 on my Redmi 3.

I have downloaded the latest ROM, 8.0.1.0
transferred it to the SD card of the phone and started the update process.

At the bottom of the screen pops up the message "Getting info" for a few seconds and then the screens switches to the Tools folder without the update process running.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Pertti

I tried also the option to copy it to the internal memory. It does not make a difference.

Both ROMs are from xiaomi.eu

Boot to recovery, install zip from TWRP and reboot system.

(Had to do this both Redmi 3 and Mi4 to update from 6.8.25 xiaomi.eu weekly, did not work from Updater app.)

If you upgrading from miui7 to 8, clean install with FR is highly recommended anyway (tho upgrade on top would probably work)

Hi I want to install the latest stable ROM for MIUI 8 on my Redmi 3 pro which I understand is
xiaomi.eu_multi_HM3_V8.0.1.0.LAICNDG_v8-5.1.zip available here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424961218. Is that correct?

So far as I know, my phone is locked and not rooted. How do I check this? The current ROM is unofficial MIUI 7. I've never done this before. What's the best safest way to update? Please take me through this step by step, or refer me to a link that does that. Thanks!

Hey, I've been running through same questions since I received my Redmi 3 Pro 2 weeks ago. First of all, you have to unlock your bootloader:

http://en.miui.com/thread-202290-1-1.html

Has been working for me using global stable. Just log in at your Mi account using your R3P like it is running on global stable. Then use the Unlock tool like described in link above. Few days later (4 days for me) you'll get unlock permission. Again, follow the instructions at the link above.

Now your bootloader is unlocked. For installing any ROM you want, you need a Custom Recovery. I recommend TWRP.

To install TWRP, I followed these instructions:

https://twrp.me/devices/xiaomiredmi3.html

Once you're done, you can install any ROM you want, like the one you named above (it's the same I'm using right now). Just download ROM onto Internal Storage, boot into TWRP, choose Install, select file, flash... very easy.

Thanks Kicksomeazz. Using the unlock tool I applied to unlock my phone as you suggested. It's been almost 2 weeks and I haven't heard anything from Xiaomi. Does anyone know if that is because I have an unofficial ROM on my phone? Will they tell me if I've been rejected?

So, if that doesn't work is there another way to unlock my Redmi 3 pro?
