Install on a MI 9 Global without losing data

Hi,

Had my Mi 9 Global (I'm in France) since 3 weeks and it seems that this rom is the most recommended to improve daily usages.

My question is, if I unlock my bootloader then try TWRP and flash xiaomi.eu rom, MUST I clean user data (ie make a "factory" reset) ?
Or can I use my phone without wiping data ?

I saw that my phone is on MIUI 10.2, can I install xiaomi.eu 10.3 ?

@PAULO : I thought that (on Mi9) we won't loose Widevine L1
