Is there still no way to modify root with TWRP on Mi 10 UMI?

I've heard about the dynamic partition issue but is there no workaround? I am using manuelbianco unofficial TWRP 3.5.1. And whenever I try to modify a file in /system it will result in ERROR : 1. I'm trying to install MIUI mod icons.

Only workaround I know is to use/create a Magisk module.
