Hi,

i just received my Mi Max 2 (128GB). Originally it was the Chinese Rom but
the seller installed official Global rom for me. My goal is to root this phone.
Model number: MI MAX 2
Android Version: 7.1.1. NMF26F
Android security patch level 2017-07-01
Miui version miui global 8.5 Stable 8.5.6.0 (NDDMIED)
Baseband version 2.3.c1-00100.1-0719_1408_09d91c6
Kernel version 3.18.31-perf-g459b3d5-343704-ga6bc0ca

I applied for my official bootloader unlock and it will work in 72 hours.

Now, I found out I have to install a different rom so that twrp won't be
wiped after reboot.

1. Which Xiaomi.EU Stable Version works for my phone best? (I saw 2 different ones)
2. Do I actually have to flash a different rom because, the seller already changed the Rom?
3. Can the rom enable LTE Band 20? Or is that hardware dependent?
4. Do i flash the rom over my Global rom or can I have two roms at the same time without issues?
5. Does Xiaomi.Eu support multi sim cards?
6. If I in future update my xiaomi.eu rom, will that always wipe my phone data?
7. During the bootloader unlock I had to create and associate my phone with a mi account,
can I switch back to android account? Will that have a negative effect on the bootloader unlock?

Thanks a lot

My Max 2 will arrive next week (probably with the same ROM as yours), I applied yesterday for Unlock and got permission today, after 22 hours. Mi account has nothing to do with your Android account, you will use both simultaneously. You can not enable Band 20, it's HW dependent, and for EU ROMs there is latest Stable 8.5.14 as far as I've seen.

Thanks, if i install that EU rom and later want to update it, will I lose all data on my phone?

I think it depends if you do full update with all wipes, not sure for Max 2 yet, I've changed EU over Global on Redmi 4, in that case no data is left, maybe you can keep if using the same version update...

So when Xiaomi allows me to unlock my bootloader (40h) I install "twrp-3.1.1-0-oxygen.img" and flash
"xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMAX2_V8.5.14.0.NDDCNED_v8-7.1.zip".

When do I have to install "SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822.zip"?
When do I remove "recovery-from-boot.p" for twrp3 not to be overwritten
after reboot by stock xiaomi recovery?

Install it after booting up. Depends on when you want to. I usually flash the rom first, set it up, root, xposed.
