Is there a MIUI feature or an an app that can turn the screen on (or off) by double tapping it, just like the Knock Knock feature on the LG G2 ?

Yes, you can use Simple Cover Lock, Auto Screen On, or other similar apps.
They are not the same as LG feature, but they used proximity sensor to automatically turn the screen on when you take your phone out of your pocket, for example.

This is the one I used.
Keep in mind that all those apps increase battery usage, not really too much, but it's recommended to turn it off at nights, for example.
