Locale Settings

I recently bought the Xiaomi Note 3, and when starting up the phone, I was prompted to choose a locale setting. I am from the United Kingdom, and the UK isn't an option like most western countries. Does choosing locale effect how my phone works? (like downloading apps etc) And which do I choose or how do I go around this?

Just choose any locale with latinic, don't worry
