Hey folks,

I have just bought myself a Mi Note Pro (Leo, MIUI 77.00.55.00) from China and (despite several glitches found already) am still pretty impressed by this device. Please excuse me if I will be asking silly or already discussed questions, I am very new to the whole subject will try to get up to speed fast.

Having played with the device over the weekend I noticed that:

A. Network Location Services don't work correctly. Despite modifying strings and booleans in the framework-res.apk and getting rid of Baidu (like advised at en.miui.com thread-70357-1-1), I could not make location services to work for apps like "Weather", "Android Locator" etc. All apps but Google Maps keep crashin with "need INSTALL LOCATION PROVIDER" security exception.

B. Despite switching the interface to English, there're still Chinese hieroglyphs and apps here and there.

C. Mi Note Pro is considered as China-only device by Xiaomi so there will be no official ROMs apart from "China" ones, so this community is my best choice and only hope :)

That being said, I have a couple of questions:

1. Do you guys have a stable ROM for my device and does it have Network Location Services that actually work here in EU?

2. While there are some obvious benefits, what are major downsides and risks of using ROMs from this site?

Thanks a lot for your help and advice in advance!

EDIT: Would you guys know a god way of making Network Location Services work on my current ROM?

The most important thing is change the rom it is not official. Then all will be better

Thanks man! So which of the ROMs are you currently using for your Note Pro and does Network Location work for you correctly?

I use the weekly version downloaded from androidfilehost and works very well.
The rom has inside twrp 3.0 and you may have some problem after for flash supersu or make a nandroid backup. For be sure download twrp 2.8.6.0 if you need.
Remember that for have root on mi note oro you need flash supersu in recovery mode...

Thanks guys!

What is the difference between "Weekly" and "Stable"? How do you update "Weekly" (amnual or automatic) and does it keep your files and settings?

Your ROM 77.00.55.00 is a fake "webshop" ROM. This is not official. You need to change it as soon as possible.
But first you need to know, that is your Bootloader opened or closed.
If your BL is open, you can flash TWRP recovery, and Install new EU ROM.

Weekly based on chinese-english developer ROM. Stable is based on chinese-englis stable ROM.
Weekly gets updates (OTA or manually) every week. Stable gets updates every 3-4 months.

For ROM flash you need this http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/how-to-unlock-bootloader-mi-note-pro-100-works.30557/

or you need this:

1. First of all download all the things you need.
fastboot driver http://www.mediafire.com/download/r4jj46i5683yapf/minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.3.1_setup.exe and this: http://www.mediafire.com/download/o7yy3d04u8ytu51/MiSetup3.2.1.3111_2717.zip and install these to your PC!
twrp https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24421527759888160 Unpack this zip and you will find an IMG file and Copy it to Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder
2. Power off your device and turn it back on Fastboot mode
3. Woohoo great now what you will have to do is plug your phone to your PC using a usb cable. Wait until drivers installed correctly.
4. Go to Minimal ADB and Fastboot folder on your PC and run BAT file with admin rights.
5. Now type in the black box fastboot devices just to make sure that your device is listed correctly.
6. Now type in the black box fastboot boot twrp.img
7. Now your phone should boot into TWRP!! :D
In TWRP if you enable MTP, you can transfer your ROM from your PC to your PHONE.
Now you can make FACTORY RESET on WIPE menu. And after you can install new LEO ROM Stable: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24438995911976143 or Developer: http://miuif.celogeek.com/6.3.24/xiaomi.eu_multi_leo_6.3.24_v7-5.1.zip
8. Reboot and (if you are a lucky guy) your phone will reboot on your new system. And your stock MiRecovery remains...

Thanks a lot!

Would you please clarify how to receive and apply weekly updates OTA and whether this affects application data and settings in any way?

Thanks again for your support!

From this site:

Some facts about OTA delay:
- OTA packages are always same as posted here, so FULL ROM (400-800MB)
- Installation via OTA is same as you do, so Updater - Menu - Select installation zip
- OTA is uploading into Xiaomi china servers which are very slow for download and upload (usually 30-40kb/s for uploading over 8GB) so I have to upload them always at night one by one and I dont have time for doing that every week... Unfortunately OTA account is binded to my Xiaomi account so nobody else can do that instead of me...
- So we decided to upload OTA only once per month and not weekly... Users who are lazy to go here and download zip manually, can wait over month to get new version via OTA, they just dont care about new updates...
