Mi Notes broke after update - Redmi Note 8 Pro

This has happened almost 2 or 3 years ago and I never really updated my phone ever since. Does anyone know if this can be fixed? From my understanding the Notes data is still there but the App just won't load up. Are there any ways to backup the notes data without root? I tried adb backup but that doesn't seem to work. Would appreciate any suggestions or hints.
