New Miui6 Redmi 1s (armani): No Contact Photo On Incoming Call

Running MIUI6 latest version, 5.6.11 . Photo does exist in contact list. also, when rolling back to MIUI5 (45.0.0) problem disappears.
 
Upgraded to 5.6.18. Still no contact photos on incoming calls.
BTW the photos do appear in the Call Log, and obviously in Contact List.
