New Rom

Hi everyone,

I've recently got a mi4c and I've finally figured out that it came with an unoffical ROM (MIUI GLOBAL 8.0.50.0) with annoying malware. I'd like to install an EU ROM from this site (which will probably be MIUI 8 v 6.10.13).

I've searched a lot of things and have got confused with everything (I have no experience with these kind of things).

Is it possible just to copy the new ROM to my mobile and use de updater app to install it? Or do I have to unlock the phone and flash it? Or do I have to do something else entirely?

Try your luck unlocking bootloader with MiUnlock, and get stuck in 50% like all others did.
Or try the unofficial way by flashing a lower version of rom, do oem unlock via adb command and flash twrp afterwards.
Never try to flash directly an official rom using the updater from your current vendor rom, which will lead to bootloop, and more headache.
