Phone restarts whenever it doesn't find any signal

Is it really normal for my phone to restart whenever I lose signal from my provider? If not, can I turn it "off?" Thanks!

no the phone should never restart unless u rip out the battery or press reboot
try reflashing the rom with full wipe/restore
