New [POCO X3 NFC 12.0.4] Fail to receive SMS.

have same problem here, would be great to find a fix for that

This bug is really annoying. Still exists in 12.0.6 I guess is is some kind of hidden spam protection - even if I have all SMS spam protection disabled.

Can't use my bank apps because I cannot receive OTP SMS.

Try use another SMS app..
Thank you - I have two apps instaleld by deafult in my xiaomi.eu ROM:
"Messages" (7.0.039 Groot RC09) = OTP Messages not working
"Messaging" (12.1.3.57) = everything works ok

"Messages" (7.0.039 Groot RC09) is not a MIUI app.. so uninstall it..

Stock ROM was working correctly. After flashing Xiaomi EU rom I often fail to receive SMS. After sending four SMS messages from my mother's phone, I only received one. I also fail to receive SMS from my bank, from Steam, any kind of password recovery code like Twitch's, etc. There are others complaining about this issue over at XDA - https://forum.xda-developers.com/xi...rom-xiaomi-eu-rom-poco-x3-nfc-t4165247/page22

If you have the same issue I have, it's due to Google Messages app that disabled Chat features because we're not using the official MIUI ROM. By disabling chat features, if a someone send you an RCS message (using chat features), you won't be able to receive it.

If you want to keep using Google Messages, you must force SMS mode on other's people phones that used to send you RCS messages.

Hello.
I had this issue yesterday after installing EU ROM. The problem is what @Eidenz mentioned: Google won't let us use chat feature without an official ROM...

And once we activate chat feature in our phone number, other phones with Messages app and chat feature enabled, will send us a chat, not a SMS (I guess with Mobile Data and WiFi disabled, it will send as SMS) and since we cannot use chat in this ROM, we never receive anything!!!
What I did so solve the problem was to disable chat feature associated to my mobile number. After, I looked at my son's phone, and in the app, opened my contact and the textbox changed from "send chat message" to "send text message", and voila I received the SMS.

Are you sure?
I am using Mi9 SE with Xiaomi.eu and I have Chat features enabled without any problem.
I receive and send SMS without any problems as RCS messages when I'm texting someone with Google Messages also....

To me, this might be linked to the kind of problem I wrote on another thread (Android 11 chat bubbles not working).
These kind of issues only affects a few devices, but only on the xiaomi.eu ROM.

No idea why though. It's a bit annoying..

In my case it stays on validating number, and gets stuck in there... But for me there's no problem for not using RCS, so I'll use the Xiaomi messages app...

Indeed, uninstalling Google Messages fixed the problem. I never thought that was the problem because I had Xiaomi EU's Messaging app set as the default app.

For several time, I had Google rcs activated on my poco f2 pro until miui 12.6. I've tried to rollback to 12.5, nothing happened. Tried to global rom, worked perfectly. Back to Eu 12.5, something wrong, I can't activate Google chat, so disappointing because until now, it's look like Google never saw I was on a custom Rom. And now I can't use chat anymore and I don't want to go back to global rom...

I'm quite ignorant about all those things. How do I get there in the menu's to uninstall Google Messages ?
The only cristal clear conclusion reading this topic is that nothing is easy using a Poco X3 NFC.

Following worked for me to see the incoming sms from Itsme , containing the activation code:
  • I changed to Poco system language to US English. Maybe this must have done the magic trick ?
  • By the way , the existing App "Messages" built in the Poco was always working at all times,
EXCEPT for messages from Itsme containing the activation code, while numerous attempts.

  • AFTER language change :
  • Uninstalled and re-Installed Itsme again from GoogleStore
  • Login to my bank account's Mobile app to proceed to authorization to data access. (Bank confirms data are sent to ItsMe)
  • Back to Messages (which I couldn't possibly uninstall), the Activation code message came through.

Maybe during several previous attempts I might have change a setting, while still working in Dutch version.
I do not know for sure what might have done the magic trick. Anyway , it's wasn't a piece of cake.
