Question about CustomROM updating

Hi guys,

i have few questions about custom ROM updating, especially for those that have OTA update.
just as an example, now i use Mokee latest version. now, the case is: there is new update. OTA version, and full ROM version download.
my questions are simple,
1. is it possible to update by downloading the new OTA then flash it directly using CWM? surely i do that without wiping anything?
2. what will happen if i download the new full ROM and flash it using CWM to my current ROM? is there any difference with question 1?
3. if i want to update using OTA and CWM, how to track my version so that i will not "jump" and what happen if i wrongly choose "jump" version when flashing the OTA?

No, If you paid attention when using OTA they talk about Recovery flash and not CWM, if you try you'll get error.

No you'll just download a bigger file and 'll have to wait flash the whole ROM

You won't choose anything wrong because OTA verify wich version you're using. It will only upgrade your version, not downgrade, so I'll not "jump" to wrong version but download full ROM otherwise see answer 1

you're right, i have tried flash an OTA update using CWM and it gives me error.
it also a problem if the custom ROM dont provide OTA but only full ROM.
So, your suggestion for me would be download the full ROM and directly flash onto the current ROM? of course i dont want to wipe in order to preserve my current apps and data.

That's right... If you are in the same ROM unless the developer said that you have to do some procedure, you can flash the new version over the current one in your device without wipe data(sometimes wipe cache or dalvik, but If the developer say)
