Invalid Smart Lock

Smart Lock is not working with my registered Bluetooth devices..
Doesn't work via settings either. List is blank

MIUI doesn't support using non-Xiaomi Bluetooth devices for Smart Lock.

As much as that is very disappointing to hear, why does Xiaomi block ability that Google presents to Smart Lock the device?? Why would you do that?
