New Storage Encryption - Nothing happen after entering Password

Device: Mi 8 Pro
Rom: EU 2.7.16

I'm trying to Encrypt the Phone, then it asks me the Device password, I enter and it again gets back to the previous page!
How should I protect my phone files seriously?!

MI8 has , from my today knowledge, not any encryptable TWRP
You must go tripping Fstab in order to get encryption working.
Have a check into MI8 section, a topic was done related to that old story.
Not difficult to do but require to format data...

I see you got reading the old thread related to MI5 encryption scheme.
Be careful this was for ANdroid8 phone and no more applicable to Android 9 or 10 phone.
