Touch screen problem (i think)

Hello all,
I have only had my phone a few days however I have a problem with it already. Every now and then it freaks out and seems to spend a second or two randomly click different thing like it has a mind of its own. It did this a few times when I first got it then after I flashed the latest ROM all was well for a while however the problem seems yo have returned.
Has anybody else experienced this problem? Somebody please tell me this is a software problem and that my nice and shiny new phone isn't broken.
