Update Will Lose Root?

Hi everyone!!
I have a xiaomi mi5s running the weekly xiaomi.eu ROM, i also have it ROOTed and using xposed Framework with some apps that are really hepfull to me.
I have this phone for just 3 weeks, so i new with it.
I was wondering, when i upgrade to the next version of the ROM (i read i had to download de .img and just open it with the update app of xiaomi at my phone) i will lose my root configuration and all the apps i installed from xposed?

Have you any suggest of how to proceed?
I mean if there is any app that grant backups, so then is faster to reconfigure the phone as i have it.

or i will have to do it all again?

Make a backup and restore from backup after re-applying root access....

Let me write the process as i undestand it, so you can correct me.

1) I make a backup throught TWRP for example
2) download and install new xiaomi.eu ROM
3) install supersu and grant ROOT access
4) load the backup

That backup wont restore the previus version of the ROM i had?
or do you mean another kind of backup?

Use the backup and reset option in additional settings ...Make a local backup....
