Hi all

Am tired of being stuck on Android 4.4.4 on my Redmi 2(2014811) Several Apps I use have limited features on Android 4 when you compare to Android 5 or above.... And as there is looking like there will never be an android update I want to move on to a GOOD STABLE custom rom....... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO folks what is there out there and what would you recommend..

Please leave a little info about your recommendations such as battery, bugs etc and a link..

Hopefully this will be of use to others as well..

thank you

Thats looking better.... Tired Of Miui roms bloatwear..... Don't use 70%of the features so they are wasting space....

Still Android 5 or 6 roms would be good..Android 7 seems too buggy at the moment.... But question is WHAT Redmi 2 do I actually have or does it NOT really matter?

There are a few versions of the Redmi 2:

According to the MIUI forums and XDA[1][2]:
wt88047, 2014811 or HM2014811 - international 1 and 2GB versions
2014818, HM2014818, or HM2LTE-IN - Indian variant
2014813 or HM2014813 - Chinese variant

See if you can find any of these numbers in your "About phone" screen, I haven't ever used MIUI on this device so I don't know if it's mentioned there. This thread[3] on XDA mentions a few other ways you can use to find out: try the "CPU-Z" app, look at the "build.prop" file (if you have root), or on a sticker under your battery.

I've got the 2014811 with 2GB RAM/16GB storage and have been using nicknitewolf's LineageOS (linked above) since January (CyanogenMod/Android 6.0 before). There are no major bugs as far as I can tell, it works great and it is fast, and I get great battery life as well. If you want a simple Android version without bloat, that's the one I would chose.

I'm not sure if every ROM and recovery is compatible with every model number, so be careful.
