OK... for better or worse I ordered a new "Global" Redmi Note 5 from Amazon yesterday, it will be here tomorrow. I've already created two different Xiaomi user accounts with completely different info, emails, etc. One is based on my mobile phone number as login, the other using a email (different email than the recovery email used in the "phone number" account.
I plan to immediately (or ASAP) install TWRP, a custom ROM, etc. I've read all of the horror stories about getting the bootloader unlocked, although it's not clear that this problem applies to all phones/countries/regions. What can I realistically expect... a 30 day wait for approval to unlock the bootloader, or is there a smarter way now? Any magic process that will allow me to get the job done easily? Thanks!
