Whatsapp

I can't seem to verify Whatsapp when I have to give a name to communicate with iphone users (I already verified my telephone number)
When I try to do this it says it cannot connect with the servers, while i do get messages through whatsapp but I can't read them and reply
I have a HTC Desire GSM and have the latest version of MIUI installed

I had the same problem. I solved it by uninstalling whatsapp and then re-installing it. If it ask's you to restore a backup I said 'no' and it work without a problem!!!

I am unable to see contacts on whatsapps with my s2.
On first initialisation of the application there was a message informing that I have a custom rom and this would cause problems - is there a workaround please.
I am running ics 2.4.6
