New Wifi draining battery

I don't know if this is already addressed, but if i keep my wifi on it drains battery like hell. I am not even logged on to any chats or anything. And the only thing that wakelock detector tells me is that connectivity services had kept the phone awake. That is not the case when i keep wifi turned off. And the battery even lasts much longer.
Am i missing something?

Wifi on during sleep (or off/only when plugged in)

My setting is wifi on only when plugged in.

I'm getting bad battery life since upgrading to 3.8.x - on 3.8.16 at the moment. Might be down to having wifi on (even though I have mine set to sleep when phone screen is off) as that's pretty much all I use my phone for, except 1 hour (average) of music
