just bought this phone, cannot set it up! lets me choose my language, english (united kingdom), then says 'choose your region'......but when i scroll down the list of countries united kingdom or great britain aren't there!...what am i supposed to do now???

Are you running the Global Version of MIUI? If so, then I think there isn't a locale for UK.
Anyway, the region doesn't really matter that much, so go ahead and choose something close to UK.

Just flash the EU rom then you should have uk local. There are instructions on how to do this. Just have a search...=]
