Hello!

Trying to connect my Mi Pad 3 to PC W10 for filetransfer. When I connect USB cable to PC I get messeage on MePad and can select MTP file transfer. Driver is installed and the device gets listed under available devices. It is also listed under the device manager as a portabe device MTP USB device. So all seems fine and I should then see the Mi Pad in the file explorer; but I not see it. Nothing.

Enabled USB debugging under advanced developpers options but no difference.

Have tried this on two different W10 machines. Same result; see screencaptues

Any advice or suggestions are welcome! Thanks

Tried it on a W7 machine and got an error during installind drivers. Device is listed though under unspecified devices though. When I update driver manually it says best driver already installed. But Yellow Exclamatation point (!) remains with the device in the device manager.

Tried this: https://software.intel.com/en-us/xdk/docs/installing-android-debug-bridge-adb-usb-driver-on-windows but no succes so far.

On OSX I followed manual (worked for other mobile devices already): http://webcazine.com/12332/how-to-transfer-files-between-a-mac-and-a-xiaomi-device/ but no device recognised on OSX. So somehow i thas to do with the Xiaomi device I'm afraid.

I tried http://pcsuite.mi.com/ but same. It is outdated and of 2015. Still supported? Oh I see it auto updates to a newer version 3.2.x. And give following screen.

And then:

But when using App Updater it says No Updates Available MUI 8.2.5.0. USB debugging needs to be on otherwise nothing happens.

If I connect mY OnePlus Android no problems; so cable is fine.

MiFlashUnlock was also able to connect in Fastboot and to report that No unlock required.

When using ADB and adb devices the mipad 3 is listed with long number. So it is connected.

So last option is to do all full reset to factory settings; did not try that.

I hope get some advise/tips from the forum members and other user of Mi Pads.

I've got the same problems with my brandnew mi Pad 3.
Wonderful device, but this is a serios problem.
Any solutions?
Thanks!

Found some new information: http://en.miui.com/thread-599818-1-1.html Did not try anything yet.

So then you need to flash to China Rom using Updater, and then follow normal procedure as also indicated here http://en.miui.com/thread-593004-1-1.html

It turns out the the "MIUI 8.2 Global ROM" is a 3rd party ROM. So I re-flash the Mi Pad 3 to official China Stable ROM and the USB connection to my Wndows 10 laptop works fine now (Windows Explorer is showing the Mi Pad 3 as a USB device.).

1. Flash official China ROM for Mi Pad 3 here: http://en.miui.com/download-325.html
Please note that if you choose to flash using the Updater, remember to select erase all data and settings.

2. The China ROM does not have Google Play. So you have to install it yourself.

According to some reports, the Google Play that you install yourself may not be stable. "Waiting for wifi..." or "downloading..." issue. If you encounter it (just like I did the first time), I just repeated steps (1) and (2) above.

What is unclear to me is if the official China ROM for Mi Pad 3 has also English or only Chinese as language.

The China ROM (both Stable and Dev) for Mi Pad 3 has the following languages: English, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Arabic, and one other language that I don't recognize.

Just a tip. If you encounter a similar problem in the future or hate cables you could always install an FTP app on the tablet and a client on the computer and do it that way. I find with some devices it can be comparable to using a USB cable (depending on the memory used and the network). And no drivers to install (plus no MTP limitations).

Yes, I tried using FTP between the Mi Pad 3 and my laptop with both devices on my home wireless network, near the router and next to each other.
The transfer speed is quite slow compared to cable.

Maybe you can try a third-party phone data manager program to help you transfer files between your mipad 3 to computer. With its help, you can easily access data on mipad 3 and transfer them to pc.
