My Review/Test of the MI2 (updated on January 11 at the end of first post)

i don't think both apps looks the same ...
MIUI camera looks totaly different than android stock camera
and photosphere comes from the stock camera

I am talking about the name and icon. Did I mention user interface?

Yes, i know hardon.

It's just wanted to know what alain57 thought about this fonction.

Ok alain57, i understand you don't want to come back to stock android ^^.

It would be nice if the Mi2 had a dedicated ImageSense chip like HTC's latest phones. I like not having to switch back and forth between camera and camcorder mode while being able to take high quality photos during filming.

I dont know about the Chip thing but you can take the picture when you are making video on mi2. Just touch the shutter symbol at top left corner of the screen during the video to take the picture. screen shot is attached

Nice, all I was saying was HTC has a dedicated image chip processor for taking pictures in addition to being a dual/quad core which allows for taking snappy pictures as well as very little picture quality degradation in photos when video recording.

How do pictures look on the Mi2 when taken during video? Most other phones/camcorders take much worse quality in that state.

when taking from the video, its a screenshot..
so if you film full hd ( 1980 x 1080) the picture will be the same size... so no 8 Mpx picture

How can you say that? Did you check it?
When I tested it took 5 MP picture!!! It wasn't 8 mp but may be because I set the camera resolution to 5mpx.

yes i tested it
i first took a picture without filming (3.8MB big)
i did a fullhd film and clicked on the take picture button and the picture was 550KB big
i opened the second picture and checked the resolution : it was the same as the video

Now I know what's the difference. I am taking 720p and you are doing 1080p video. I guess no Android phone can do full HD and full resolution picture at the same time.

hum strange tested it again, and still just full hd picture :(
so i reset my video settings and now i have full size picture ...

edit : hum after reseting it, i did not changed the 1080p to 720p but it filmed to 720p
if i do 1080p film, the picture is no more full size ..

so it is the issue, it ether 1080p video with small pictures
or 720p video with full size picture

Interesting, thanks for playing around with that guys!

Even many high end camcorders aren't able to take HQ photos while filming, so it would be too much to ask of a phone. Still, it sounds like it does a decent enough job based on your tests.

Theres also a wrong translation, kind of.

Video Slow Mode records a time-lapse video with the selected preset, Video fast mode is actually the 60/90fps slow motion.

i just add one amazing video on first post (at the end) ... does the screen really need protection ? lol

Epic vid! I especially liked the saw. I wonder if they filmed it with another Mi2?

And what about compared to Nexus 4..? Its almost same HW...

well as far as i know the camery quality of the Nexus 4 sucks.
the developer of clockworkmod replaced his Nexus 4 and got the same issue again... For him the Nexus 4 does worse pictures that Galaxy nexus... And Galaxy Nexus does only good picture with good daylight.

I found that the MI2 does better pictures with less light, does not need flash in conditions where the galaxy nexus needed flash.
And on daylight it does super good pictures ;)

for the rest, i have no idea :(

I owned (and sold) the Optimus G which is really the N4. The picture quality was below par. Acceptable in very good lighting, but still clearly worse than all other flagships, which was disappointing and one of the reasons why I decided not to keep it.

in fact the N4 is a optimis G, with samsung galaxy nexus design, stock android and less functions (4G) as a performance drop when batterie get warm...

i owned a galaxy nexus and i didn't wish to change for a phone doing even worse pictures....

for me the MI2 is a nexus 4 + MIUI + better camera ;)

Thanks to all people using my referal link :)
the referal system did not worked like i expected, BUT the ibuygou support admit the error and offers me 3100 Battery ;) (i guess since my review a lot of people bought the phone ^^ )

I'll update my review soon with nice pictures of this battery and a little comparaison between the stock and the extended battery.

right now i used the phone since 22hours (almost 3hours screen time) and some games and i have 60% left ;)
i'm still doing the first full discharge so you need to wait a little ;)

Hey, I didn't want to post a new topic for this, so I'm just gonna ask it here. How do I turn off the vibrating when I type? thanks!
