MI-2 Device Review

That's awesome!

My current phone battery sucks, I'm constantly recharging, replacing batteries, etc. Hopefully one day they'll produce a power source that's capable of lasting an entire day with heavy usage while on 3g/4g. I doubt it will be anytime soon, but one can hope!

Can anyone tell me the difference of operation when using Power saving mode or regular mode.
I can see a difference, of course, with the battery life.
but what is exactly changed in terms of performance and speed? because i dont see any

Power-saving mode:
- 10-20% better battery-life
- 384MHz - 918MHz
- a little stutter (but fast)

Normal-mode:
- 384MHz - 1512MHz
- smoooth ;)

The LG Optimus G has a similar Eco Mode to conserve battery. It was still pretty fast and useable, but a noticeable stutter crept up during intensive graphic gaming.

This sounds nearly identical.

you wont see any mate unless your doing something crazzy, like i only noticed it during GTA 3 with my PS3 Controller with full graphics haha :D little tiny lag...

Other than that you will never ever notice it, so just put it in that mode and keep it in that mode :D

I tend to do that when am at 50% tbh, wish miui had a tab on home screen or in notifications for easy switch between modes :S (or am i missing something? )

P.S GeekBench2 scored like 1000+ in Low Power mode
But scores 2k+ in normal or high performance :p

No, in power-saving mode it's not perfectly smooth (statusbar e.g.) :D!

U mad bro :) just tested all 3 no lag lol on status bar

The smoothness in power-saving mode is OK. 4 hours ago I updated to JLB10.0 stable-> little bit smoother :) .

Actually you can do that, it´s easy to configure the status bar to show the power modes and easily change among them...

HTC Desire HD (2.3.5 Stock), Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro (CM7), Google Nexus S Amoled (Paranoidandroid 2.54), Samsung Galaxy S2 (CleanbankRom AOSP 4.0.4), Samsung Galaxy Note (CM9), Google Galaxy Nexus (4.0.4 Stock) , Samsung Galaxy S3 (CM10) , Google Galaxy Nexus (4.2.1 Stock) , Google Nexus 7 (Paranoidandroid 2.54) ...

I love my Mi-2 ;) . IMHO, the best smartphone ever made!

- perfect display!
- stupidly fast, smooth and stable :)
- excellent sound quality with headphones (Klipsch S4, Audio Technica M50) and speaker on the back
- battery life: very good (~10-20% better than Galaxy S3 )
- build quality: very good
- camera: very good (S3-level)

Bro, may I know what setting do you use to prolong your battery life? I have been using Mi2 for nearly a week. I can;t compare to my old phone, samsung wave as I barely touch it as if I play with Mi2.

However, my battery power drop spontaneously. I need to charge 2 to three times a day...

2-3 times  DAFUQ .

MIUI Stable JLB10.0
no language pack
80% wifi
20% 2G&3G
normal-mode
screen-brightness: auto

Please post screenshots of your battery use (settings - battery - battery use + screen-on time). Thx ;) !

Erm, I charge whenever I can, since its still new, there is a lot of trying here and there, so I just connected it to USB port. But it drop to 50% 4 times today... so, well, 2 recharge

BTW, I am using MIUI 3.1.19 with language pack. But there is quite some problem like error message when using other language and keyboard does not have option for typing other language

Mine is 1 day 13 hours 49mins 12 second on battery
And... no Wifi is on, so is auto brightness and data...
And ive been playing;
  1. GTA
  2. Some coin game
  3. My sister played temple run
  4. Some zombie horde game :p
Also went on a 30min run using music + GPS
And i always listen to music on my device :p
And am using normal battery :p
Ill upload print screen closer to the end i want to see if i can get 2 days out of it
My HTC ONE X got like 10 hours battery life i will never buy another HTC

I got my MI-2 last week and i also got the extended battery. First i must say that the screen is just amazing. Really fast... power saving was a little stuttery and also lagged when coming from sleep. With the extended battery i got 1 day 23 h with wifi and 3g always on, auto-brightness on, moderate use without games(didn't have time i was trying to find a black theme that didn't have black on black or white on white bug). The battery adds some weight and it makes it a little bit bulky. Coming from a desire z(180g) it's really ok. Only con of the extended battery is the case, while it is nicer that it's matte black it makes the phone really slippery specialy when using gloves.
PS: If you get the extended battery invest in buying the battery charger or you will wind up like me with a useless battery. If i want to have them both charged i must swap them and if needed it ain't that hard but to do it all the time it is not the best ideea.
For those who want to buy it. ibuygou

Here was my solution to the battery charger problem. I had already purchased extra Anker batteries and charger for my previous phone and am still using the charger for the a Mi2's massive extra battery. It's not pretty, but it works!

How do you feel about the size of the phone with the extended battery? I've considered ordering it, but the size makes me a little nervous.

Doesn't bother me at all. Keep in mind though, I actually don't mind (even like) thicker phones. Thin phones feel so incredibly strange in my hand (like the One S), like I'm going to break them.

That said, it's not even that thick, compared to dumbphones. I've been told I have small hands because I dislike phablets, I don't care how thin a phone is, it's the width that determines how a phone is held in your hand, and no matter how thick the Mi2 gets, it remains narrow in width, and thus, easy to handle.

Even if you find it too thick, like anything, you'll get used to it. I noticed the weight more than I did the thickness, but again, doesn't bother me.

I find my concerns with it being too thick amusing considering that before my Nexus 4 and HOX I was using a SE X10 Mini Pro. While it was a tiny phone, it was thick as a brick. I figure the thickness wouldn't bother me much, but it is always hard to tell until it is in hand.

As boojay said the weight is what you feel not the thickness. It adds 2mm making it 12 mm and the xperia mini pro is 18mm :)

Thanks! I feel like the weight is less of a concern on my end - Looks like I'll probably order one sooner than later.

I'd definitely get one, the trade off is completely worth it. If you feel pretty good about the regular battery, the extra capacity will put a smile on your face. And get this, the battery is actually 3120 mAh. Originally I thought it was 3000, then heard it was 3100, but when I received it, you get that extra little 20 ;)

It's the little things.
