I am in the process of providing and updating this, though it will take some time as there is a lot to cover, and important to get the wording right so everyone can understand.

For all of you having problems running MIUIThemeEditor, this is some workaround:

It seems that the properties for the locale are missing, what does this mean?. When you try to run java -jar MIUIThemeEditor.jar, from the command line you will see that it will show an error saying that it doesn´t have the right properties file for your country, in my case was es_MX, because I´m from Mexico and we speak spanish.

Basically, to fix this you have to open the MIUIThemeEditor.jar with some rar or zip app, then extract the "resource_en_US.properties" from the jar, and then change the name to "resource_xx_YY.properties", where xx is your language and YY is your country. Then add it to the jar.

By this time, it should be perfectly running and you should have 3 properties files in your jar: the chinese one, the us one and yours.

Hope it helps!

Does anybody know how to mod themes to make some chinese values into english? I have checked the mtz files and have not seen any xml files with chinese values to change.

Those are PNG images not a string on any XML man. You must have to replace or alter the PNG

ROM: paranoid beta 2.99 pie
galaxy nexus
stock kernel

i can't get it to show up in english. Always starts in chinese even if i do steps in post 6....

Just click on top menu last one (right most ) then select last option from there, and select English. Let me know if you still have problem, I will put screen shot here

Wow, just tried to run this on both windows and linux, both worked.. This seems to have a LOT of potential! But we could use some more thorough translation and also an elaborate guide..

In my first run, i tried opening a theme, everything seemed okay. But it was a bit confusing as to what the different functions do, how to actaully operate with the program. Only thing i could actaully see from the theme was the description and some of the coloring.. in the "modules" section, all i saw was the default images and theme elements??

So i'm looking forward to see some tutorials with this, to make it easier for people to use effectively :D
Maybe we could get this tool up on the english miui forum? I guess it would reach out to more people and perhaps make it easier to get some guides/tutorials/translations up and running??

One more thing.. This thread wasn't easy to find, i stumbled across it by accident.. Shouldn't this be in the Theme (development) department?
