Realy nice,
as i read this threat i want to change my fonts too.
But in rootexplorer after i try to paste the "new" arial.ttf i got an error-message that there isn't enough space free to paste.
When i first try to delete the "old" arial.ttf and than paste the "new" one, rootexplorer losts lettes so that i can't read messages or directory entries and so on.

What can i do to change the font?

All I did was download the fonts I want to use. Use Root Explorer and delete ALL of the arial fonts then u can either paste the renamed fonts back in system/fonts or u can download Font Changer Lite and drop them in the .fontchanger folder and it will rename them for yous. It works perfectly and u can change them quickly...plus u can preview the fonts before u apply them. The main thing I have found is u have to delete all of the arial fonts... I had to restore so many times that it wasn't funny.

Thx, i will try this (Tor delete ALL arial fonts).

Worked like a charm. Many thanks.

I've tryed it.
But i can do what i want, i can't change permissions nor copy files to the folder. But i think i've found out the error:
Rootexplorer suggest me i will have r/w rights, but it seems that i have NO r/w rights!
Reason: I tryed to change permission on an existing file, rootexplorer suggest me it would be done, but.... after a reload of the folder is nothing changed!!!

Question: Must i have S-OFF to apply changes? I have only rooted my phone.

There is a button on the top right side that says mount r/w. Hit that and you be able to do whatever u wanna do. S-off shouldn't have anything to do with it. That button toggles read only or read write.

I would try to uninstall and reinstall root explorer or make sure it has been granted root privileges. Other than that I'm not to sure.

Edit: So you do have to have s-off in order to modify /system folder while the phone is running

Thx, but i give up!

I know found out that my HTC Desire is S-On.
I have two ways to change the fonts:

1. Reboot into recover (in this case the Desire is S-Off) and work with adb shell command (i have absolutly no plan how)
2. Build an update.zip what change the font (but how? I am a noob!!)

Thats it. (And only for change my fonts into a font what i like, i don't whant to become a programmer!)

Font Changer (Lite) works with MIUI, although MIUI is quite bitchy about what fonts work and which ones don't. Make sure to have a regular and bold file. If you try to trick Font Changer by naming a regular file as bold, after applying that font you will get a boot loop.

deleting all arial fonts works like a charm! u have no idea how many times i have reinstalled the rom today... lucky miui can be flashed over n over w/ wiping cache and dalvik...

I'm glad you got it to work.... I found a great site that has thousands of fonts all free to download and it previews each one. http://www.creamundo.com/en/a I had to download them on the computer and then transfer them over but they work great

Edit: works with font changer as well

I've had really good luck with Absolute System Root Tool, at least on .5 (1.1.7, 1.1.22) and .6 (1.1.26). You can download any one of a whole lot of fonts straight from a WYSIWYG font list in the app, and install straight from the app (the app will reboot the phone for you). Has worked for me every time. It's not free though, but for about the cost of a cup of coffee, it was totally worth it to me.

Got it !

After times it seems it NEVER would work for me, i found out a way how it works for me:

1. Look for your font
1a. Copy the Font to the ADB Folder
2. Open a comandline on your pc (Windows: cmd.exe)
3. Change to your ADB folder and do the following steps with ADB
3a.
Code:
adb reboot recovery
3b. On the Phone in recovery menu: mount -> system

4.On PC:
Code:
1. adb shell
2. ls/system/fonts (to get a overview over the installed fonts)
3. rm system/fonts/Arial.ttf (and the same for the other Arial-Fonts)
4. exit
5. push <fontname>.ttf system/fonts/Arial.ttf
5. Rebbot your Phone

Now my font looks so:

I'm preparing to release font packs that can be applied with Theme Manager. So far, I have 8 packs ready with lots more still to make. Would people be interested, or would I be wasting my time?

It sounds very nice, and well i'm interessted. But if it won't work with theme manger (what still happens to me) could you provide a download link for each font?

Pretty much all of the fonts I'm packing are from fachadick's thread on XDA, so they're all available there. But they should work fine. I'm on the absolute most recent build, and they all show up in theme manager, but I always move them directly to /MIUI/theme instead of importing them through Theme Manager.

Oh. Forgot to mention that I'm planning on submitting them to the theme website tonight if they're approved. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't since they're not complete themes, but I think they will definitely fill a void.

Okay, could someone please post some REAL FAIL-SAFE instructions to doing this with font changer lite? ive tried deleting all the ariel fonts, does the new font need to be named anything specific in font changer? DETAILS PEOPLE! not this i did it this way, you did it that way I'm looking for (fail-safe) with font changer ive restored miui soooo many times i could slit my wrists!!!!

I've been a bit busy the last few days. I'll pack that one up in the morning. It'll be up by lunch time. I've been waiting for the theme site to go live, but since it hasn't yet, I'll post some requests here in the meantime.

Edit: I should mention I'm in the Central time zone (GMT -6:00)
