Incredibly Slow Network (mobile Data) Speed

Hi there

I have a Mi6 bought from HK via Ireland, I'm in the UK on Orange/EE. I've had my Mi6 for just under a year, but in recent months the mobile data speed has slowed to a crawl. The network speed counter in the notifications bar rarely shows more than 10-20 kbps, often much lower.

My flat is only about 100m from a mobile phone mast, so it shouldn't be a signal problem. I've tried various options from either Mobile networks->SIM->Preferred network type, and I've gone into the Testing app to try the many options there (WCDMA, GSM, CDMA, UMTS...). Nothing seems to make any difference.

Any ideas? Could this be a hardware/antenna fault? Wifi seems to work ok, although it's not very speedy either. I'm running the stock rom, MIUI Global 9.0.2.0 NCAMIEI.

I selected Falkland islands as it was the nearest thing to UK! But the drastic drop on speed has come after a few months of using it, not right from the start. What effect would region setting have?

I have a similar problem with one Redmi 3 PRO, and i have to change Algeria to Spain, and data speed increased...

I guess region have some code to lock and unlock network bands (if i'm saying something stupid, pls, correct me)
